Shift Hours: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM
Schedule Notes: Weekend availability required as necessary. No holiday or on-call duties.

Position Summary:

The Radiologic Technologist I plays a crucial role in conducting diagnostic imaging procedures at a technical level that does not necessitate constant oversight. This position entails generating diagnostic images, executing portable x-ray examinations, and supporting physicians in the administration of radiopaque contrast agents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct diagnostic radiographic examinations by accurately positioning patients, utilizing immobilization devices, and selecting suitable technical parameters tailored to individual patient requirements.
  • Limit radiation exposure by employing cone and collimating devices to safeguard unaffected areas of the patient.
  • Perform portable x-ray examinations in various settings including patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency departments.
  • Adhere to established protocols to correctly identify patient films with the appropriate name and x-ray number, ensuring accurate film marking.
  • Process exposed x-ray films using available development methods.
  • Complete patient requisitions with necessary details including technologist initials, date, film number, and size.
  • Maintain a well-organized x-ray room as per departmental guidelines.
  • Prepare and assist in the administration of radiopaque contrast media under physician supervision.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to appointment scheduling, patient instructions, film filing, record maintenance, and patient reception.
  • Assist patients with mobility, ensuring comfort and safety while moving on and off x-ray tables based on their individual needs.
  • Meet physical demands including lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing and pulling at least 10 lbs., and standing for extended periods.
  • Recognize and address the diverse needs of the patient population, tailoring care to specific requirements including age, culture, language, and physical limitations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and family members at their level of understanding.
  • Comply with the standards outlined in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.

Qualifications:

Preferred: Experience in an Operating Room setting.

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an AMA-accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Completion of clinical training and A.R.R.T. requirements.

Licensure & Certification:

Required:

  • Valid New Jersey State License.
  • Eligibility for the National Registry and successful completion of the examination.

Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in English (Speaking, Reading, Writing).

Additional Notes: Possession of a New Jersey State License is mandatory.
