Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education-Blind and Low Vision Teacher to join our team at New Castle Community School. As a member of our special education team, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic and personal growth of students with visual impairments.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs of students with visual impairments.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to create a comprehensive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide direct instruction and consultation services to students, teachers, and parents on topics related to visual impairment and assistive technology.
  • Evaluate students' visual abilities and develop strategies to help them access curriculum materials and participate in activities.
  • Stay current with the latest research, technologies, and best practices in teaching students with visual impairments.

Requirements:

  • Masters degree or higher in Special Education or a related field.
  • Valid Indiana teaching license in Special Education with a focus on Blind and Low Vision.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with students with visual impairments.
  • Strong knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive techniques for students with visual impairments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
