Welcome to WVU Medicine, where we're dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. We're seeking a skilled Phlebotomy Technician to join our team.

As a Phlebotomy Technician, you will be responsible for collecting blood and other specimens from patients, ensuring accurate labeling and handling of samples, and operating laboratory equipment. You will also communicate effectively with patients, clients, and staff, and perform clerical duties such as filing and report distribution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect blood and other specimens from patients, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Properly label and handle specimens, ensuring accurate identification and chain of custody.
  • Operate laboratory equipment, including centrifuges and computer systems.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, clients, and staff, providing excellent customer service.
  • Perform clerical duties, such as filing and report distribution.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Phlebotomy Certification (CPT) preferred.
  • At least six months of phlebotomy experience.

Working Environment:

  • May require unsupervised access to restricted areas that may contain medications, supplies, and patient confidential information.
  • May be required to travel between facilities/buildings.
  • May be scheduled to work various shifts based on departmental needs.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to use a computer keyboard, monitor, mouse, and calculator.
  • Ability to use computer software (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel).
  • Ability to use Fax machines, printers, and other office equipment.
