We are seeking a full-time Lead Wildlife Biologist/Ecologist - Project Coordinator to oversee initiatives in the eastern United States, including the southeastern, mid-Atlantic, and northeastern regions.

Our Camp Hill, Pennsylvania office is supported by regionally based Project Managers in the southeastern and northeastern US.

Our Camp Hill office is conveniently located near major cities, fostering collaboration among over a dozen full-time staff members, both office-based and remote.

The eastern team at WEST consists of a diverse group of professionals, including biologists, wildlife specialists, ecologists, bat experts, wetland specialists, permitting professionals, avian scientists, GIS technicians, and data management experts.

Our office engages in a variety of natural resource projects, primarily supporting the development, operation, and permitting of renewable energy initiatives, along with other projects that present natural resource challenges.

Salary:

The minimum base salary for this position is $100,000, complemented by an annual bonus, a 401(k) retirement plan with contributions from both employer and employee, potential shareholder opportunities, and comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance for employees and their families.

Base salary will be determined based on education, professional certifications, and relevant work experience.

Job Summary:
Ideal candidates will possess substantial experience and expertise in wildlife study design, business development, project management, and environmental consulting.

Responsibilities will include managing wildlife survey projects across various industries, including renewable energy, transmission lines, pipelines, transportation, oil and gas, and other relevant sectors.

While the initial focus will be on the eastern US, opportunities may arise to expand into other regions or internationally based on the candidate's interests and expertise.


Key Responsibilities:


As a Lead Wildlife Biologist - Project Coordinator, you will work independently and collaboratively with a team of natural resource specialists, scientists, and biometricians.


Natural Resource Project Management:
Lead and coordinate projects aimed at assisting clients with natural resource challenges during development or operational phases,

Provide federal and/or state-level permitting support for renewable energy projects, linear projects, and other diverse development initiatives,

Oversee pre- and post-construction field studies for energy and other development projects.

Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies.

Project Administration:
Prepare reports and proposals while ensuring data quality,

Engage in environmental consulting focused on addressing wildlife or natural resource issues related to project development or operations.

Project Oversight:


Manage pre-construction and post-construction monitoring; renewable energy projects; linear projects; and other variable development initiatives; design wildlife field studies and coordinate field setups.


Supervision and Mentorship:
Lead project teams, manage deliverables and budgets for multiple projects,

Train and oversee field coordinators and technicians,

Supervise and direct field studies and personnel.

Promote health and safety practices.

Market WEST's capabilities.

Develop and maintain business relationships while fostering new business development efforts.

This position will involve overnight travel.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate must be a self-motivated individual with:

A minimum of a bachelor's degree in biological sciences, natural resources, wildlife management, wildlife biology, or a related field.


At least 10 years of prior experience in natural resource/wildlife project management, including budgeting and proposal writing, environmental consulting, and professional scientific experience.

Additionally, experience in the following areas is preferred:

Expertise in avian and/or bat ecology, though knowledge in wetland delineation, plant identification, or other ecological areas of interest to commercial clients will also be considered,

Familiarity with statistical analysis interpretation.

Understanding of the WEGs, ECPG, MBTA, and ESA regulations.

A proven track record of maintaining positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.


Strong writing skills with meticulous attention to detail, capable of accurately reporting scientific methods and results from field studies.

Technical knowledge in wildlife biology and familiarity with regional wildlife.
