Job Summary

Southwell, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Arthritis Clinic General department. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing professional nursing care to assigned patients in a fast-paced medical office building environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess the health status and needs of assigned patients in a timely manner.
  • Complete all documentation prior to shift end, ensuring accurate and thorough records.
  • Conduct reassessments on assigned patients as per unit policy and when the patient's status changes.
  • Initiate orders as incorporated into the plan of care, ensuring seamless patient care.
  • Complete nursing interventions and physician's orders in a timely manner during shift, prioritizing patient needs.
  • Accurately interpret, request, and transcribe orders for medications, treatments, procedures, lab work, and other diagnostic procedures.
  • Follow Nursing Practice Guidelines and policies related to medication administration and IV therapy, ensuring patient safety.
  • Accurately communicate patient condition to coworkers at shift report, physicians on rounds, and other associates as required.
  • Follow hospital policies and standards of Nursing Care, Nursing Practice Guidelines, and provide care appropriate to patient age.
  • Oversee all care of assigned patients, ensuring a high caliber of patient care is provided.
  • Recognize respiratory or cardiac arrest and immediately begin CPR and activate emergency requests for assistance.
  • Review patient's and/or significant other's knowledge related to patient disease process, cause, preventative measures, and treatment.
  • Develop plans for teaching, document patient's/significant other's response/level of understanding.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for individualized judgments and actions, demonstrating dependability and accountability in all assigned tasks.
  • Protect patients' rights by knocking before entering the room and properly draping patient prior to procedures.
  • Provide service with respect for human dignity and the uniqueness of the patient, unrestricted by consideration of socioeconomic status, personal attribute, or the nature of health problems.
  • Safeguard the patient's right to privacy by judiciously protecting information of a confidential nature.
  • Protect patients' valuables as directed in hospital policies and procedures.
  • Act to safeguard the patient and the public when health care and safety are affected by the incompetent, unethical, or illegal practice of any person.
  • Complete Occurrence Reports on any activity deviating from the norm.
  • Keep abreast of all pertinent federal, state, and facility regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Understand and adhere to compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflicts of Interest Policy.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform tasks that meet the age-specific requirements of the persons, patients, vendors, and staff that the employee is charged to interact with as required by the position.
  • Offer suggestions on ways to improve operations of department and reduce costs.
  • Attend all mandatory education programs.
  • Improve self-knowledge through voluntarily attending continuing education/certification classes.
  • Maintain required competency levels as identified in written exams, skills checklists, skills labs, annual safety and health requirements as well as service excellence education hours requirements.
  • Will to cross-train in order to better assist co-workers and to provide maximum efficiency in department.
  • Volunteer/participate on hospital committees, functions, and department projects.
  • Manage resources effectively.
  • Report equipment in need of repair in order to extend life of equipment and removes malfunctioning equipment out of service with timely reporting to the appropriate personnel.
  • Make good use of time so as to not create needless overtime.
  • Complete bedside shift report in patient's room.
  • Attend 80% of monthly staff meetings.
  • Follow Dress Code specific to Nursing as outlined in the system policy.
  • Do not use personal devices or cell phones during work hours, only hospital-approved communication devices are approved for use during work hours.
  • Transport patients safely as required by the patient's level of care.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse with authorization to practice in the state of Georgia.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
