Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at Primoris Renewable Energy. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and mentoring junior electrical engineers and engineers in training, as well as CAD designers. You will create work schedules to achieve on-time submission of all engineering deliverables for RFPs and existing projects in the design and construction phase.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Create work schedules to achieve on-time submission of all engineering deliverables for RFPs and existing projects in the design and construction phase.
  • Electrical Engineering: Develop and implement electrical engineering calculation processes for string sizing, DC and MV cable calculations, studies, inverter sizing, and inverter quantities for projects.
  • Design and Development: Develop preliminary design concepts based on engineering principles for solar PV and BESS system design for RFPs. Provide necessary support and documentation to the estimating, business development, and proposal teams.
  • Design Optimization: Develop and contribute to detailed design concepts for solar PV system design for awarded projects.
  • Long-Term Support: Provide long-term detailed design and optimization support for solar PV system design for sole-sourced projects from clients.
  • Tool Development: Develop, update, and use electrical engineering calculation tools to come up with cable, conduit, OCPD, and other electrical equipment sizing based on project requirements.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with the estimating, procurement, project management, and construction teams to provide ongoing support with design concepts and design optimization of solar PV systems.
  • Design Guidance: Work with CAD designers to guide them through well-designed solar PV site layouts, single-line diagrams, and other design drawings and details.
  • Database Management: Develop and maintain a database for different equipment involved in solar PV design and improve it over time.
  • Construction Details: Contribute to construction details and bill of materials for various construction work packages within solar PV projects.
  • Design Process: Develop and contribute to the design process from the conceptual level to the constructible level for multiple solar PV projects.
  • Utility Interconnection: Review utility interconnection documents, such as facility studies, interconnection agreements, or power purchase agreements.
  • Pvsyst Energy Generation Models: Develop Pvsyst energy generation models for proposals as well as awarded projects.
  • Utility PV Performance Testing and Commissioning: Observe, record, and calculate contractual utility PV performance testing and commissioning obligations.
  • Cost Optimization: Apply innovative engineering principles for cost optimization of utility-scale solar PV systems, develop design matrices, and maintain them for future reference.
  • Support and Training: Provide support to the procurement team and project engineers regarding any engineering-related issues or questions for awarded projects. Attend mandatory training sessions on new products, installation methodology, and safety.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or any other related engineering stream.
  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering and/or work related to solar PV or any other renewable energy construction projects.
  • Professional Experience: Professional experience with utility PV engineering contract deliverables in an EPC setting.
  • Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Microsoft Office. Electrical engineering simulation software experience is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications.
  • Team Player: The ideal candidate is an individual who is a team player, solution-minded, and always looking for ways to improve processes, efficiency, and communication.
