Preoperative and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit RN

Baylor Scott and White Surgicare at North Dallas is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Preoperative and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit team. As a PreOp/PACU RN, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth transition of patients through the surgical process, providing exceptional care and support to patients and their families.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage patients' admission processes to the preoperative department, ensuring accurate identification and preparation for surgery.
  • Assess patients' health status in the pre-op area, verifying vital signs and ensuring informed consent is obtained.
  • Coordinate with surgeons and anesthesiologists to determine the procedure and necessary preparations.
  • Initiate IVs and educate patients on the surgical process and post-operative care.
  • Monitor patients' condition after surgery, ensuring vital signs are within normal range and documenting all findings.
  • Develop individualized care plans, collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure a positive patient experience.

Requirements:

  • Must be a Registered Nurse with an unrestricted license in the state.
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Must have at least 2-5 years of experience in PreOp/PACU or Critical Care.
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center is strongly preferred.
  • Must have current BLS, ALS, and PALS certifications.
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient.
  • Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing patient conditions.
