Job Summary

Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a highly skilled postdoctoral researcher to join our team in the Applied Materials Division. As a postdoctoral researcher, you will play a key role in advancing the development of electrochemical separation technologies for applications in energy production and resource recovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute laboratory experiments focused on the optimization of electrochemical separation processes, including capacitive deionization.
  • Develop or modify electrode materials, membranes, or other components to enhance separation performance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to scale electrochemical separation technologies.
  • Disseminate research findings through journal publications, conference presentations, and technical reports.
  • Assist with the preparation of research proposals to support ongoing and future research initiatives.
Requirements
  • PhD degree in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field with 0 to 2 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of chemical separation processes and principles.
  • Experience designing and conducting experiments, analyzing data, and interpreting results.
  • Knowledge and experience with analytical techniques, such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and microscopy.
  • Ability to develop independent research projects and publish in peer-reviewed literature.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with electrochemical separation techniques.
  • Familiarity with process simulation and modeling software, such as COMSOL or Aspen Plus.
  • Knowledge of programming languages, such as Python, for automation, data analysis, and control algorithm development.
