Job Summary

HCA Houston Healthcare North Cypress is seeking a skilled Registered Respiratory Therapist PRN to join our team. As a vital part of our patient care team, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
  • Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
  • Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
  • Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.
  • Perform general respiratory therapy to all ages in accordance with age-specific criteria.
  • Evaluate diagnostic studies, including bedside spirometry, pulmonary mechanics, and blood gas analysis.
  • Demonstrate team work, adaptability, and serve as a resource to the patient care team.
  • Have accountability for delivering quality respiratory services and promoting a positive image of the department.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an AMA-approved Respiratory Therapy program required.
  • Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) in the state of Texas is required.
  • 1 year of experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • Current BLS Certification is required.
  • ACLS, PALS, and NRP are preferred.
