Job Overview

This role involves overseeing the daily operations of substantial commercial and industrial mechanical projects. You will collaborate with Project Managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely project completion within the designated budget. Regular oversight of employee and subcontractor work is essential, including inspections and verification of ongoing tasks. A strong emphasis on safety compliance is required. Experience in facilities such as food processing plants and distribution centers is preferred. Achieving favorable cost outcomes concerning labor and materials is a key responsibility. You will also ensure that all construction quality meets acceptable standards and maintain on-site communication with clients and their representatives to guarantee satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee on-site project construction activities.
  • Coordinate and manage all tradespeople involved in the project, including subcontractors.
  • Plan and schedule project activities on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain a three-week look-ahead schedule, distinct from overall project timelines.
  • In collaboration with the Project Manager and General Superintendent, devise construction techniques and methods, including material handling, crew sizes, and task sequencing.
  • Attend all required meetings and ensure effective communication.
  • Prepare and maintain daily reports documenting all project activities.
  • Assist the Project Manager in identifying qualified subcontractors.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and scheduling, keeping the Project Manager and General Superintendent informed of any delays.
  • Identify and report any additional work requested by the client or arising from job conditions that exceed the original scope.
  • Verify the accuracy of layout lines and grades for all work executed by Stellar employees and subcontractors.
  • Check and confirm dimensions in relation to design and shop drawings.
  • Ensure daily quality control for both company and subcontractor work.
  • Take responsibility for on-site safety and accident management, reporting all incidents immediately.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and implement effective safety protocols.
  • Foster positive relationships with the local community and establish strong working relationships with client representatives and local personnel.
  • Provide on-site training for employees to develop a knowledgeable workforce.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, understanding that these will be treated as part of your role.
  • Direct the activities of workers involved in the construction of mechanical, plumbing, piping, or other related projects, either personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager.
  • Report directly to the General Superintendent.
  • Supervise all assigned personnel and subcontractors.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of mechanical experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Project Supervisor.
  • Experience in food processing facilities is advantageous.
  • A valid driving license is required.
  • Familiarity with various duct types and materials.
  • Capability to manage large-scale commercial and industrial projects.
  • Proficient in tracking and scheduling projects, ordering materials, and forecasting manpower.
  • Ability to manage and schedule subcontractors effectively.
  • Comprehensive understanding of blueprints from other major trades.
  • Experience supervising multiple crews simultaneously.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) with or without mechanical assistance.
