Vocational Transition Specialist Position at Springbrook

Overview:
  • Facilitate the acquisition of vocational competencies through practical and community-based work experiences.
  • Administer training sessions and evaluations at diverse employment locations.
  • Aid in the formulation and execution of supported employment strategies and vocational objectives for students.
  • Engage in vocational evaluations for individuals aged 14 and older.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Keep detailed records of program updates and student progress.
  • Educate local enterprises about the WAGES initiatives.
  • Conduct assessments within the community for students.
  • Provide oversight and assistance at students' job sites.
  • Contribute to the development of personalized vocational IEP goals for students.
  • Promote academic activities that are vital for employment readiness.
  • Participate in reviews and IEP discussions.
  • Serve as a communication bridge among employers, students, and support personnel.
  • Deliver job coaching services and necessary support.
  • Execute onsite and vocational skills evaluations.
  • Assist students in cultivating vocational skills and comprehending work responsibilities.
  • Undertake any additional assigned tasks as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Nursing, or a related Human Services field with pertinent experience; or
  • Associate's Degree in Special Education, Nursing, or a related Human Services field with relevant experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Familiarity with OPWDD regulations and NYSED guidelines is preferred.
  • Competence in utilizing various software applications and email platforms.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs. and fulfill driving requirements as necessary.
