Transportation Specialist

The Transportation Specialist is responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, following established routes and adhering to all bus operating laws. This role requires effective communication with passengers, parents, and school officials, as well as maintaining a safe environment within the bus.
Key Responsibilities- Transport students to and from school in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to established bus routes and all bus operating laws.
- Read and understand bus route sheets and follow instructions.
- Communicate effectively with passengers, parents, and school officials.
- Use the two-way radio to communicate with the Transportation Office.
- Complete pre and post-trip inspections, report any mechanical deficiencies, and properly maintain the DVIR.
- Enforce bus safety rules and maintain control of students in the vehicle.
- Ensure all students are secure in seatbelts or car seats while in the vehicle.
- Inspect vehicles after each route for sleeping students and items left by students.
- Substitute as a Transportation Aide for a student, if necessary.
- STV/Bus driver with CDL B with P and S endorsement or Class D with V endorsement.
- Pass background check and DOT physical and drug test.
- Maintain a commercial driver's medical certificate and pass continuous random drug tests.
- Experience transporting K-12 students preferred.
Starting wage for STV $17.00/hour and $18.75/hour with CDL.
Cheshire Public School reserves the right to close the posting when a suitable applicant has been found.
