At Chileda Institute Inc., we are dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals facing cognitive and behavioral challenges. Our focus is on supporting students in developing their social skills and independent living capabilities through tailored behavioral programs within a supportive educational atmosphere. We are currently looking for a Speech and Language Pathologist for Educational Settings.
Position Overview:
The Speech-Language Pathologist will engage with students and residents at Chileda who are facing challenges related to speech and language, particularly those with AAC needs and autism spectrum conditions. The caseload will encompass a wide range of students aged six to twenty-one. In addition to direct engagement with students, the SLP will work collaboratively with other professionals at Chileda to ensure comprehensive communication support across the campus.
Role Details:
This position can be full-time or part-time, with consistent hours from Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology and hold a valid Wisconsin License for Speech and Language Pathology, or be eligible to obtain one within a year of hire. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and attachment-related challenges is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop speech and language goals for student IEPs and treatment strategies.
- Monitor and document student progress throughout therapy sessions.
- Design and implement visual communication resources for students, utilizing both low and high-tech options.
- Train support staff on the effective use of visual communication tools.
