Job Summary

M/I Homes is seeking a skilled Construction Manager New Home to oversee the construction process of our new homes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the on-site construction activities for assigned subdivisions.
  • Monitor the completion of each construction phase through coordination, scheduling, and inspection of each home.
  • Ensure quality craftsmanship and customer satisfaction in accordance with Company goals and objectives.
  • Assist in budgeting time requirements to complete each phase of construction and meet deadlines by scheduling subcontractor work and deliveries.
  • Act as a liaison between operations, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Supervise and monitor the work of subcontractors.
  • Review, on a daily basis, the production of homes via inspections during various construction phases to ensure quality control.
  • Monitor progress including delivery and use of materials, supplies, tools, machinery, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Conduct pre-construction and pre-settlement meetings with home buyers.
  • Resolve customer service issues and production problems during the construction phase to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in the control of production costs through review and approval of time sheets, production and service invoices, delivery, and inspection sheets.
  • Provide and apply appropriate training methods and standards to subordinates and subcontractors.
  • Monitor and enforce safety and Company policy compliance.
  • Directly supervise subordinates and assist in the supervision of subcontractors.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with special projects as requested and perform additional duties as required.

Requirements
  • High school graduate with at least one year of relevant course study including workshops and seminars in construction management techniques combined with at least four years of related experience.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the home building industry within the scope of building codes, regulations, and construction process.
  • Good maintenance and carpentry skills.
  • Exposure to undesirable environmental conditions as well as some health and safety risks.
  • Appropriate equipment and precautions required.
  • Travel demands which require possession of a valid driver's license.
