Job Description:
The Safety Security Officer is a critical member of our team at Westhab, Inc., responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our clients, staff, and facilities. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily inspections of client rooms and common areas to identify potential safety hazards and take corrective action.
- Escort clients to appointments and provide support as needed.
- Monitor client behavior and maintain a positive rapport through excellent customer service.
- Control access to the facility by screening clients and visitors using magnetometers and x-ray machines.
- Perform crisis intervention to de-escalate potential crisis situations and document all incidents.
- Make regular rounds of the facility to ensure a safe and secure environment.
- Respond to incidents and emergencies in a timely and effective manner.
- Assist with client intakes and provide support as needed.
- Perform daily pack-ups and logging of client property.
- Store and remove client property after the mandated storage period.
- Maintain a clean and organized storage area.
- Complete logs, incident reports, and other required documentation.
- Make calls to emergency services as directed.
- Perform administrative and receptionist duties at the operations desk.
- Monitor video surveillance cameras and fire prevention/detection alarm notification systems.
- Ensure the safety and security of assigned equipment.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior security experience and NYS Security Guard License required.
- Current 8 Hour Annual Certificate and Fire Guard License for Shelters (F-02) required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary.
- Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) preferred.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
