About the Role

We're seeking a skilled Meteorology Expert to join our team at the US Navy Reserve. As an Aerographer's Mate, you'll play a critical role in predicting weather patterns and providing accurate forecasts to support Navy operations worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect, record, and analyze weather and oceanographic data
  • Make visual and instrument observations of weather and sea conditions
  • Operate meteorological satellite receivers and interpret satellite data, radar imagery, and meteorological and oceanographic codes
  • Prepare up-to-date weather maps and oceanographic data
  • Issue weather forecasts and warnings, and provide weather/oceanographic briefings
  • Use, test, calibrate, and perform minor and preventive maintenance on meteorological instruments

Education Opportunities

Navy Reserve Sailors continue to hold educational opportunities through Tuition Assistance, DANTES, and their post 9/11 or Montgomery GI Bill. Further education opportunities are also available through the US Naval War College and Senior Enlisted Academy, as well as certifications and licenses available through the Navy Credentialing Opportunities Online (COOL).

Qualifications and Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or equivalent
  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent
  • Be at least 17 years old
Work Environment

As a Navy Reserve Sailor, you'll serve part-time, carrying out your duties during scheduled drilling and training periods. During monthly drilling, you'll typically work at a location close to your home.
