Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at St. Joseph Medical Center. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a crucial role in the care and management of patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide treatments such as inhalation therapies, oxygen therapy, and aerosol medications to help patients breathe more easily
  • Conduct tests such as pulmonary function tests (PFT), bedside bronchoscopy, and arterial blood gas analysis to assess lung capacity and gas exchange in patients
  • Set up, monitor, and adjust ventilators and other life-supporting equipment for patients who cannot breathe independently
  • Member of the rapid response team and code blue team in emergencies, providing airway management, assisting intubations, and resuscitating patients in critical situations
  • Assess patients' respiratory status, monitor their progress, and make adjustments to treatment plans as needed
  • Ensure that all respiratory equipment is properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained to prevent infections and ensure patient safety

Requirements:

  • State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License required
  • Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required
  • 2 years experience as an RCP preferred
  • ACLS certificate within 60 days of hire and maintain current
  • NRP certificate preferred
  • PALS certificate within 60 days of hire and maintain current
  • Associate degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
