Operating Room Registered Nurse-Contract Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Operating Room Registered Nurse to join our team at FlexStaff Careers. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced operating room environment.
Responsibilities:- Patient Assessment and Care: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physiologic health status, including gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological health. Develop and implement individualized plans of care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Psychosocial Health Assessment: Elicit patients' perceptions of medical and nursing care, identify coping mechanisms, knowledge levels, and ability to comprehend. Develop and implement plans to address patients' psychosocial needs.
- Patient Outcome Identification: Develop criteria for measuring patient outcomes, identify actual and potential patient problems, and develop individualized patient goals.
- Plan of Care Development: Formulate and implement plans of care, establishing priorities to achieve expected outcomes. Coordinate the cost-effective use of supplies, equipment, and medication.
- Plan of Care Implementation: Maintain constant vigilance over patients' care, ensuring safety precautions are followed. Administer prescribed treatments, use equipment necessary for patient care, and provide emotional support to patients and their families.
- Evaluation of Care: Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided, documenting outcomes and performing variance analysis for performance improvement.
- Collaboration with Care Team Members: Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to plan and implement treatment regimens. Provide direction to other members of the care team as needed.
- Decubitus Care: Perform preventive skin care measures, apply simple dressings, and perform irrigations as necessary.
- Medication Administration: Correctly identify and administer medications, documenting administration and educating patients and their families about medication use.
- Patient and Family Education: Provide patients and their families with explanations of their conditions, recognizing and utilizing health teaching opportunities. Evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and document outcomes.
- Related Duties: Perform other duties as required by the healthcare team.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with an Associate's Degree in Nursing (required) or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
- Minimum 1-2 years of professional nursing experience in the related specialty.
- Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State (required).
- BLS certification (required), plus specialized certifications as needed.
