We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Revenue Auditor I. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing clear communication skills with taxpayers and their representatives to resolve tax matters.
Responsibilities:- Educate and advise taxpayers on their tax liabilities and responsibilities, filing deadlines, tax payment obligations, and department policies and procedures.
- Review tax returns as directed.
- Collect data, information, and documentation from taxpayers.
- Monitor deadlines.
- Update notes, histories, and taxpayer information in agency computer systems and audit work papers.
- Record notes proficiently and accurately into agency computer systems during telephone conversations.
- Conduct meetings and other conferences with taxpayers and tax professionals.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel at a basic level and learn more advanced techniques.
- Ensure the safety and confidentiality of taxpayer information, data, and records.
- Remain up-to-date on tax laws, policies, and regulations by regularly attending in-house and outside seminars, training sessions, and educational opportunities.
- Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree which must include twenty semester hours or thirty quarter hours in pure accounting courses.
- Certification as Certified Public Accountant or as a Certified Internal Auditor will substitute for the required education; OR Experience with a financial institution, corporation, college, university, state, local, or federal government in financial analysis, economic analysis, Kentucky tax administration, financial planning, cost analysis, credit analysis or loan analysis, accounting, or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting. Travel may be required.
