Mechanical Engineer

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Atlanta, GA.
The successful candidate will serve as a discipline designer leader on projects that involve the receipt, storage, transfer, and issue of finished fuel products such as aviation jet fuel, diesel fuel, ethanol, and motor gasoline.
Responsibilities will include:
- Developing discipline-specific design execution plans for assigned projects
- Completing projects on schedule and within established budgets
- Ensuring that all discipline-specific contract requirements are met
- Assisting in the training and supervision of junior engineers conducting fuel system design work
- Working and coordinating with multidiscipline engineering teams, including civil, structural, and electrical engineers
The ideal candidate will have a BA/BS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering and at least 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Key skills and qualifications include:
- Fuel system, process engineering, and/or oil and gas design experience
- Ability to travel one week per month inside the US and internationally
- Experience and ability to use AutoCAD
- Familiarity with surge analysis software and experience adjusting piping systems to reduce or remove the potential for pressure surges during system operation
- Familiarity with thermal pipe stress analysis software and experience adjusting piping systems to ensure stress levels in the piping systems are in accordance with acceptable levels listed in ASME B31
- Familiarity with commercial codes and regulations related to fuel system design, including the IFC, NFPA 30, NFPA 30A, and NFPA 407
- Commercial aviation fuel system design experience
