At United Medical Rehabilitation Hospital, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Physical Therapist to join our team.

Job Summary

The Physical Therapist will be responsible for providing and directing Physical Therapy Services to patients, including assessment, treatment, program planning and implementation, related documentation, and communication in accordance with Physical Therapy procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Evaluate patients in a timely manner to obtain data necessary for treatment planning and implementation.
  2. Conduct specialized evaluations as indicated.
  3. Interpret and communicate evaluation findings to patients, family, and other team members.
  4. Establish individual patient schedules in conjunction with other team members.
  5. Develop treatment plans by identifying a problem list, including short- and long-term goals and methods to achieve identified goals.
  6. Coordinate treatment plan with patient, family and other team members.
  7. Monitor patient's response to intervention and modify treatment as indicated to attain goals in accordance with physician orders.
  8. Document results of patient assessment, treatment, follow-up, and termination of services in a timely manner.
  9. Adapt treatment to meet the individual needs of the patient.
  10. Participate in discharge planning.
  11. Provide/recommend/fabricate adaptive devices, orthotics or prosthetics. Train patient, family and appropriate staff in the use or application of the above.
  12. Supervise and direct LPTAs in the implementation of the treatment plan.
  13. Review the quality and appropriateness of the total services delivered and of individual Physical therapy programs for effectiveness and efficiency, using predetermined criteria.
  14. Confers formally and informally with other team members, including nursing department team members, in coordinating the total rehabilitation program of the patient.
  15. Assumes responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development.
  16. Provides treatment in accordance with established standards of practice and department procedures.
  17. Complies with all Infection Control, Universal Precautions and OSHA standards for the healthcare professional.
  18. Consistently demonstrates sound judgment in the evaluation, planning, implementation, and follow-up of patient therapy programs.
  19. Adheres to established confidentiality standards.
  20. Projects a positive and professional image at all times.

Requirements
  • Master of Science in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Successful completion of National Certification Examination for Registered Physical Therapist
  • Current BCLS certification
  • Current Louisiana licensure
