Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Paralegal to join our team at Neighborhood Legal Services Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal assistance and representation to clients, as well as assisting attorneys with case preparation and management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Screen and interview clients to determine eligibility for assistance
  • Provide legal advice and counseling to clients under the supervision of an attorney
  • Assist attorneys with case preparation and management, including drafting legal documents and conducting research
  • Represent clients in administrative appeals and other legal proceedings
  • Work collaboratively with a dynamic and multi-sector team to achieve program goals
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and other stakeholders
Requirements
  • College degree and paralegal certification or equivalent experience
  • Legal services background and knowledge of general civil legal work
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations and knowledge of community resources
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Second language skills a plus
Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work in an office environment and will be required to travel to meetings and hearings off-site. The ability to work in the evenings and weekends as required to serve clients is also necessary.
