Bajo supervisión, las tareas generales incluirán mantenimiento preventivo, diagnóstico de fallas y reparaciones a; motores, equipos motorizados y ensamblajes y sistemas de componentes utilizados en automóviles, construcción y equipos motorizados de propósito especial.

Las responsabilidades incluirán sobrehauls y reparaciones tanto de motores de combustión interna diésel como de gasolina y sus componentes respectivos.

Los candidatos elegibles proporcionarán diagnóstico y reparación a sistemas de motor, sistemas de frenos, transmisiones, sistemas de encendido, ejes traseros, dirección, suspensiones, embragues, ensamblajes diferenciales, sistemas de combustible, sistemas hidráulicos, sistemas electrónicos y eléctricos, y otros componentes y ensamblajes de vehículos de motor relacionados.

Los candidatos deben ser capaces de contribuir a la recuperación de vehículos averiados y manejar reparaciones y ajustes en el campo para que un vehículo pueda ser devuelto al garaje o taller de reparación por su propio poder.

Las tareas requerirán comunicar abiertamente información a los supervisores y proporcionar órdenes a otros mecánicos según se indique.
Requisitos Mínimos

  • Cinco años de experiencia a tiempo completo como mecánico de automóviles; o
  • No menos de dos años y medio de experiencia a tiempo completo como se especifica en "1" arriba más suficiente experiencia como ayudante o aprendiz o educación relevante adquirida en un colegio, universidad, escuela técnica, escuela de oficios o escuela secundaria vocacional aprobada por el Departamento de Educación de un Estado o una organización acreditadora reconocida, para compensar el equivalente a cinco años de experiencia aceptable. Se acreditará seis meses de experiencia aceptable por cada año de experiencia como ayudante o aprendiz o educación relevante.

Requisitos de Licencia:


En el momento de la contratación, los candidatos deben poseer una Licencia de Conducir Comercial de Clase B del Estado de Nueva York ("CDL") o una Licencia de Conducir de Vehículo Motorizado válida en el Estado de Nueva York y un Permiso de Aprendiz para una Licencia de Conducir Comercial de Clase B.

Los contratados con un Permiso de Aprendiz deben obtener el CDL de Clase B dentro de los seis meses posteriores a la contratación.

El CDL, sin restricciones que impidan el desempeño del trabajo de Mecánico de Automóviles, debe mantenerse durante la duración del empleo.

  • Licencia de Conducir Comercial de Clase A del Estado de Nueva York ("CDL") con frenos de aire y endoso de remolque.

d. Como Inspector de Vehículos Motorizados certificado en Emisiones, Grupo 1

Si se selecciona para el puesto mencionado, las licencias deben mantenerse durante la duración del empleo.
Requisito de Residencia
La residencia en la Ciudad de Nueva York generalmente se requiere dentro de los 90 días posteriores a la contratación.

Sin embargo, los empleados de la Ciudad en ciertos títulos que han trabajado para la Ciudad durante 2 años continuos también pueden ser elegibles para residir en Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland u Orange County.
