This is a remarkable opportunity to become part of the Public Works Engineering Division at the City of Ridgecrest. We are in search of a full-time entry-level to mid-level Civil Engineer. The Engineering Division is integral to the planning, budgeting, design, and execution of Public Works initiatives. As a member of our division, you will collaborate with various stakeholders including local agencies and transportation departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops detailed plans, specifications, and cost projections for a range of engineering projects.
  • Participates in field assessments and research for diverse projects.
  • Gathers data and performs analyses related to engineering structures and facilities.
  • Evaluates plans from external entities to ensure adherence to established standards.
  • Contributes to analyses related to traffic, flood plains, and other engineering evaluations.
  • Supports the management of construction and operational contracts.
  • Prepares necessary environmental documentation and permit requests.

Essential Knowledge & Skills:

A strong grasp of engineering principles is crucial for this position. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project is mandatory. Exceptional communication abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to excel in a dynamic environment are vital. The preferred candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in engineering or land surveying from an ABET-accredited institution.
