As a Recreational Therapist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing specialized recreational therapy programs aimed at enhancing social interaction, leisure time utilization, and reentry preparation for individuals in correctional or youth facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement recreational therapy programs to enhance social interaction and leisure time utilization.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams to ensure coordinated care for patients.
- Assess the recreational therapy needs of individuals and formulate individualized treatment plans.
- Organize and lead recreational activities, including sports, games, arts and crafts, music, dance, and outdoor adventures.
- Modify activities to suit patients with diverse abilities, disabilities, and cognitive levels.
- Monitor and document patients' progress, behaviors, and responses to treatment interventions.
- Provide guidance, support, and motivation to encourage patients' active participation in therapeutic activities.
- Stay updated on current trends, research, and best practices in recreational therapy and related fields.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 12 to 36 months of therapist experience.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Full, unrestricted license to practice in the state of California.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
