Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and enforce leave policies, providing guidance to employees regarding their leave of absence requests.
  • Independently assess and determine the approval or denial of leave cases based on medical documentation and company policies.
  • Coordinate medical information while ensuring adherence to HIPAA and employee privacy standards.
  • Collaborate with HR management to address any concerns that arise during the leave process.
  • Oversee all administrative functions related to leave, including tracking leave hours and ensuring accurate payroll processing.
  • Maintain effective communication with employees on leave, ensuring timely submission of medical documentation and facilitating their return to work.
  • Provide managers with updates on leave durations, expected return dates, and any necessary extensions.
  • Support HR Business Partners with data to inform employment decisions when leave entitlements are exhausted.
  • Generate and manage analytical reports on leave cases to monitor trends and compliance.
  • Stay informed on FMLA legislative changes and ensure compliance within the organization.
  • Assist HR colleagues with various administrative tasks, including employee file updates and new hire documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of HR practices, particularly in leave management, typically gained through education and experience.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and processes independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate information and develop comprehensive work plans.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting recommendations to senior management.
  • Ability to identify issues, gather data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, particularly in high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Experience with HRIS systems is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and time management abilities.

Experience:

  • A minimum of four years of experience in Human Resources is required.
  • At least four years of experience managing leave cases, specifically FMLA, is essential.

Education:

  • An Associate's Degree in a related field is required.

This position does not involve direct people management responsibilities. The work environment requires the ability to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
