As a seasoned professional with a strong background in software development and network engineering, you will be responsible for leading the way in creating next-generation talent for Capital One Tech. You will mentor internal talent, actively recruit, and promote a culture of engineering excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Articulating and evangelizing a bold technical vision for the domain
  • Decomposing complex problems into practical and operational solutions
  • Ensuring the quality of technical design and implementation
  • Serving as an authoritative expert on non-functional system characteristics, such as performance, scalability, and operability
  • Continuing to learn and inject advanced technical knowledge into our community
  • Handling multiple projects simultaneously, balancing time to maximize impact
  • Acting as a role model and mentor within the tech community, helping to coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product community

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 7 years of experience in software development or software engineering using DevOps tools such as Ansible, Terraform, etc.
  • At least 7 years of experience in network engineering designing and implementing large multi-site networks
  • At least 5 years of public cloud experience (AWS, GCP, Azure)

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or a related field
  • 10 years of software engineering or software development experience
  • 10 years of professional experience coding in commonly used languages like Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Swift, etc.
  • 10 years of experience with networking (BGP, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN, cloud networking, and data center networking)
  • 10 years of professional experience in the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support
  • 7 years of experience in building distributed systems and highly available services using cloud computing services (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • 3 years of experience with IPv6 implementation in the cloud
