Position Overview

The Wellness Program Manager is responsible for ensuring that the fitness department achieves its sales targets and adheres to budgetary constraints while effectively managing labor and operational costs to maximize profitability. This role involves executing marketing strategies to attract a sufficient number of fitness assessments and complimentary personal training sessions each month.

Through a consultative sales approach, the manager will guide the fitness team to successfully convert 25-50% of prospects attending assessments or complimentary sessions into fitness program participants. It is crucial to provide all club members with comprehensive programming, coaching, and support to help them achieve their wellness objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the fitness department to meet the required monthly assessments and complimentary sessions to fulfill programming goals.
  • Monitor trainer hours to prevent overtime and ensure accurate clocking in and out for all shifts and breaks.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all trainers' certifications for compliance and inspection purposes.
  • Facilitate fitness assessments with at least 50% of new members and ensure appointment confirmations are completed the day prior.
  • Oversee the enrollment of at least 30% of prospects who complete fitness assessments into fee-based programs.
  • Ensure all fitness staff provide exceptional service and maintain a welcoming environment for clients.
  • Conduct personal training sessions and assessments as needed to enhance sales and client retention.
  • Ensure the facility is clean, well-maintained, and that all equipment is functional.
  • Reconcile revenue from fitness programming with sessions conducted and commissions owed, and manage payroll for fitness staff.
  • Provide ongoing training in fitness and sales to ensure all staff maintain necessary certifications, including CPR/AED.
  • Communicate effectively with fitness staff through meetings and memos to keep them informed of developments affecting member experience.
  • Engage with new members to welcome them and encourage attendance at their fitness assessments and complimentary sessions.
  • Participate in continuing education to enhance professional expertise.
  • Mentor personal trainers through regular meetings and audits of their skills in assessment, sales, and program development.
  • Ensure trainers complete required educational curricula related to nutrition and fitness software.
  • Manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and review job descriptions quarterly.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for fitness staff biannually.
  • Ensure compliance with policies regarding client documentation, including before-and-after photos and testimonials.
