POSITION TITLE: Butcher Specialist
REPORTS TO: Meat Manager
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
- To provide cutting, preparation, and stocking services for the meat and seafood department, ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers.
- The primary focus of this role is to meet daily production requirements and quality standards in meat and seafood cutting and preparation, ensuring maximum department sales and product availability while delivering high levels of customer service. This position involves ongoing customer interaction, providing prompt and courteous service, knowledge of retail cutting techniques, adherence to food safety regulations, and the ability to perform heavy lifting, standing, and operating meat equipment. Exposure to cold temperatures and wet surfaces is also a part of the job, along with decision-making, memorization, and reading skills. Work functions and hours may vary based on business needs, with assignments and direction provided by the Meat Manager or designated supervisor.
- Ongoing customer interaction, providing prompt, courteous, and accurate service is essential.
- This position requires strong social skills, verbal communication, register/scanner operation, reading ability, light lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, and standing for extended periods.
- Work functions and hours may vary according to business needs.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; and request supplies verbally or in writing.
- Must be available to work shifts of varying lengths and times, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
