Family Support Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Family Support Specialist to join our team at Child and Family Service. As a Family Support Specialist, you will provide short-term outreach and home visiting services to families who are considered low-risk and are referred by Child Welfare Intake (CWI), Child Welfare Services (CWS), or Voluntary Case Management (VCM).
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage families in services and conduct intake/assessment with families.
- Develop and implement individualized plans with families to address their unique needs and goals.
- Provide education and support on topics such as child development, stress management, parenting, and family life.
- Link families to community resources and assist them in navigating systems to receive needed services.
- Perform administrative tasks related to caseload, including progress notes, individualized plans, and mileage reports.
Requirements:
- Four-Year College Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency, social work, psychology, or related field.
- Over one year, up to and including two years of experience working with families experiencing child abuse and neglect issues.
- Knowledge of child growth, development, and behavior, as well as positive parenting practices, case management, and advocacy techniques.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with families of diverse ethnic, cultural, socio-economic backgrounds, and gender/sexual orientation.
