Job Overview:
As a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant (SLPA) under the guidance of a licensed Speech and Language Pathologist, you will be instrumental in enhancing speech and language therapy services for students experiencing communication disorders. Your role will encompass conducting assessments, supporting therapy sessions, documenting student advancements, preparing necessary materials, maintaining accurate records, and executing behavior management strategies. This position is structured on a 10-month schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct speech and language assessments following established guidelines;
- Provide direct support for speech and language therapy sessions;
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) as documented;
- Prepare therapeutic materials and equipment;
- Assist in the organization of student records and classroom activities;
- Support behavior management initiatives;
- Participate in team meetings consistently.
Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, candidates should possess an Associate degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology with relevant clinical experience.
Licensure:
Current registration as a Speech and Language Pathology Assistant with the California Department of Consumer Affairs is required.
Knowledge Requirements:
- Understanding of speech and language pathology methodologies;
- Awareness of developmental speech and language milestones;
- Familiarity with language disorders and rehabilitation techniques;
- Knowledge of student behavior management strategies;
- Proficiency in record-keeping practices.
