Position Overview:
Salary: $35,568 - $45,000
Hours: 40/week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the private swim lesson initiative.
  • Act as the liaison between youth swim lessons and the competitive swim team.
  • Lead and conduct swim lessons, preparing and transitioning qualified swimmers to the competitive team.
  • Coach a designated group within the swim team.
  • Participate in the summer camp leadership team, equipping swim instructors, lifeguards, and day camp staff to serve our youth effectively.
  • Assist in the daily operations of the aquatics department under the guidance of the director and associate director, including lifeguarding, hiring, training, and supervising the swim instruction team.

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred, with a focus in Youth Development, Teaching, Psychology, Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in competitive swimming coaching is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in swim instruction is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in staff supervision is preferred.
  • Familiarity with current YMCA or Red Cross curriculum and teaching methodologies is preferred.
  • Certification in CPR/AED for Adults, Children, and Infants, and First Aid (must be obtained within one month).
  • Lifeguard certification (must be obtained within one month).
  • Must obtain YMCA/USA coaching certification within three months.
