Surgical Tech Job Description

Klamath Community College is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Surgical Tech. The successful candidate will have a strong background in surgical technology, excellent communication skills, and experience in education or clinical settings.

The Surgical Tech will be responsible for leading the development of our AAS-Surgical Technician curriculum, ensuring alignment with ARC/STSA standards. They will also be responsible for obtaining CAAHEP accreditation candidacy status and HECC approval to offer a surgical technician AAS degree granting program.

In addition to these duties, the Surgical Tech will be responsible for collaborating with clinical partners to ensure space allocation for laboratory instruction, developing admissions processes and selection criteria as needed, and participating in ARC/STSA sponsored accreditation workshops at least once every five years.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both within the last 10 years. A valid Oregon driver's license and current CPR certification are also required.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop AAS-Surgical technician curriculum and degree in alignment with ARC/STSA standards.
- Obtain CAAHEP accreditation candidacy status, and HECC approval to offer a surgical technician AAS degree granting program.
- Collaborate with clinical partners in ensuring space allocation for laboratory instruction with at the college or at clinical site.
- Participate in ARC/STSA sponsored accreditation workshop at least once every five years.

Qualifications:
- Associate degree or greater in a related field.
