This position plays a crucial role in managing the clinical and production pharmacy services provided to assigned patients. The incumbent will be responsible for checking filled orders, supplies, pharmacy technicians, and other pharmacists' work. Sterile compounding will be performed as needed or assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides clinical decisions regarding patient-specific pharmaceutical care, including assessment of patients' general pharmaceutical needs, review of patients' medication profiles, evaluation for duplicate therapies, and development of patient databases and documentation in medical records.
  • Ensures the safety of patients and pharmacy personnel by monitoring and evaluating patient responses to treatment, laboratory tests, and medication interactions.
  • Participates in Penn Medicine's Continuous Quality Improvement program and provides in-service programs to all personnel on any aspect of drug therapy and related infusion devices.
  • Accepts physician prescription orders, evaluates their appropriateness, and communicates with physicians, nurses, and patients to ensure accurate and effective treatment.

Requirements:

  • Pharmacist license in Pennsylvania is required.
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy degree is required.
  • 2+ years of experience with infusion therapies in hospital and/or home settings, as well as experience in patient care and medication counseling, preparation of parenteral products, drug therapy monitoring, clinical laboratory evaluation, drug and medical supply procurement, and quality assurance.
