Job Summary

The City of Rowlett (TX) is seeking a highly skilled Revenue Operations Specialist to maintain, research, and oversee processes related to revenue for the utility billing department and other departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare daily bank deposits taken in from all city departments.
  • Perform as a responsible steward of the public trust and strive for excellence in public service, enhancing the quality of life for all.
  • Assist the public by completing cashiering duties, receiving, receipting, and recording payments, processing cash collections for other departments, receiving deposits and fees, balancing the cash drawer, and preparing the bank deposit.
  • Coordinate daily cash deposits, process returned payments, bank drafts, and customer contact regarding accounts.
  • Assist in resolving higher level customer complaints and issues.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and enter data relating to new meters included into inventory and meters changed out for accuracy to ensure proper accountability and to ensure timely and accurate billings.
  • Gather, prepare, and report accurate statistical data.
  • Prepare, receive, process, validate, and audit a variety of specialized transactions and/or other financial information in assigned area of responsibility. Research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Notify property owners of liens filed and records liens for properties with code violations to the county. Take lien payments and records lien release with the county. Take PID payments and records releases to the county. Prepare lien payoff requests.
  • Process hydrant meter bill runs. Take in hydrant meter applications and requests hydrant meter sets from the public works department.
  • Send delinquent utility accounts to collections.
  • Perform the daily bank download and verify what each deposit represents.
  • Verify data in the general ledger matches subsidiary ledgers for all 911, franchise fee, tower rental fees, etc.
  • Reconcile miscellaneous payments and deposits prior to them being posted to the general ledger by the accounting department.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three years of experience in customer service in a municipal setting, preferably in Utility Billing
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Must have and maintain a good driving record in accordance with the driving standards as established by the City of Rowlett
