Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Transportation Worker to join our team at the Maine Department of Transportation. As a Transportation Worker, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of Maine's roadways and bridges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of tasks related to road maintenance, including repair, construction, and upkeep.
  • Operate heavy equipment, such as trucks and excavators, to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Work in a team environment to achieve project goals and objectives.
  • Participate in training programs to develop skills and knowledge in areas such as commercial driving and snow fighting.
  • Meet the physical demands of the job, including working in extreme weather conditions.
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Required to work at a higher class as necessary and in accordance with required licenses and/or certification.
  • Licensing/Registration/Certification Requirements: State-paid Medical examination that includes a drug test, Department's Respirator fit test, Class C State of Maine license by first day of employment, and ability to obtain and retain a valid Class B State of Maine license during the initial six-month probationary period.
  • Ability to become a certified snow fighter within 12 months and ability to obtain flagger certification within a specified amount of time.
