Key ResponsibilitiesThe following tasks are essential for this role and may include, but are not limited to:
- Safe and efficient operation of excavators and backhoes.
- Handling and transporting materials on various job sites.
- Understanding loading requirements and critical picks for excavators.
- Excavating ponds, ditches, and trenches as needed.
- Loading trucks with fill dirt and performing backfilling operations.
- Rigging, lifting, swinging, and setting precast structures and piping materials.
- Maintaining a safe work environment while maneuvering equipment.
- Keeping daily logs of equipment usage and maintenance.
- Conducting routine maintenance on machinery.
- Willingness to travel to various job sites as required.
- Strong communication skills for effective teamwork.
- Ability to identify and report hazards on site.
- Proficient in operating excavators and backhoes with precision.
- Understanding of machine controls and indicators for optimal performance.
- Experience in rigging and hoisting operations.
- Knowledge of safe trenching practices.
- A minimum of three years of experience in heavy civil construction equipment operation.
- Certification as a Competent Person.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage tasks effectively.
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and handle objects repetitively. Visual acuity is necessary to distinguish sounds and alarms typical of construction environments.
Work conditions may vary, requiring adaptability to both indoor and outdoor settings in various weather conditions. Personal protective equipment, including hard hats, hearing protection, and high-visibility clothing, is mandatory.
