Position Overview:
The Dialysis Technician plays a vital role in the renal care department, ensuring that patients receive high-quality dialysis treatments. This position involves initiating, monitoring, and concluding dialysis procedures while maintaining a safe and sterile environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Initiation and Monitoring: Begin dialysis treatments by accessing vascular sites and closely monitor patients throughout the process, including vital signs and blood chemistry. Notify the supervising RN of any irregularities.
- Equipment Management: Prepare and ensure the proper functioning of dialysis machines. Conduct routine checks and maintenance on equipment, liaising with technical support for repairs as needed.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of treatment sessions and patient responses.
- Inventory Control: Manage and track dialysis supplies to ensure availability and proper stock levels.
- Sanitation: Uphold cleanliness and safety standards by disinfecting equipment and treatment areas between patient sessions.
- Collaboration: Work effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nursing staff, and patients, to deliver optimal care.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with completion of an accredited dialysis training program or relevant experience in nephrology care. Current certification as a Dialysis Technician is required, along with BLS certification.
Skills:
Successful candidates will demonstrate a solid understanding of medical terminology, alongside strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
