The Registered Nurse for the Outpatient Infusion Center (OPIC) In-House Registry embodies the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. This role requires adherence to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, along with compliance to all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.
Role Responsibilities:
The Staff Nurse is a proficient, licensed professional who is responsible for prescribing, delegating, and coordinating nursing care for patients experiencing acute health issues. This is achieved through a comprehensive nursing process that includes assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
Effective interaction with patients, their families, and other healthcare team members is essential, while upholding the standards set forth by the American Nurses Association (ANA) for professional nursing practice.
Key Duties:
1. Collect and analyze patient data to identify expected outcomes, develop and implement tailored care plans, coordinate care delivery, and evaluate progress towards achieving health goals.
2. Direct patient care and determine the appropriate use of any support staff involved in delivering direct care.
3. Collaborate with patients, families, physicians, and ancillary staff to ensure comprehensive care.
4. Create a documented care plan that focuses on outcomes and reflects communication with patients, families, and other stakeholders.
5. Engage in shared governance, participate in committee work, and contribute to unit projects.
6. Evaluate and document patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record, adjusting the care plan based on these evaluations.
7. Utilize the best available evidence, including research findings, to inform and guide nursing practice decisions.
