Position Overview:

As an Adjunct Instructor for the Medical Assistant Program, you will be responsible for creating and implementing educational courses that equip students with the essential skills and knowledge to excel as proficient medical assistants.

Your instruction will encompass both clinical and administrative responsibilities, including medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, patient care techniques, and effective communication within healthcare environments.


Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Design:
Develop and revise educational content for medical assistant training courses, ensuring alignment with industry standards and accreditation criteria.
Create lesson plans, presentations, and teaching materials to promote effective learning outcomes.

Instructional Delivery:
Facilitate lectures, demonstrations, and interactive learning sessions to educate students on medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease processes, and pharmacology.
Utilize multimedia resources and visual aids to enhance the educational experience.

Hands-On Clinical Training:


Provide practical training in clinical procedures, including taking vital signs, performing EKGs, administering injections, assisting in minor surgical procedures, and conducting laboratory tests.

Guide and supervise students as they practice clinical skills in both simulated and real-world healthcare settings.

Evaluation and Assessment:
Conduct quizzes, examinations, and practical evaluations to assess students' understanding and proficiency in both clinical and administrative skills.
Offer constructive feedback and support to facilitate student improvement.

Continuous Professional Development:
Stay informed about current trends, practices, and regulations in the medical assisting field.
Participate in workshops, conferences, and ongoing education to enhance teaching effectiveness and maintain expertise in medical assisting competencies.

Administrative Skills Instruction:
Teach students about administrative responsibilities such as appointment scheduling, medical record management, billing and coding, and insurance processing.
Introduce students to electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software.

Qualifications:
Must possess a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential or equivalent certification.
Prior teaching or training experience in healthcare education is preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Proficiency in clinical and administrative procedures relevant to medical assisting is required.

Compensation and Benefits:


Compensation is set at $30 per hour. Benefits include worker's compensation and a limited part-time retirement plan. Please note that Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program.

Employees and retirees of the college may be subject to the federal Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and potentially the Government Pension Offset (GPO) laws.
