Job Summary

HKS is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Architect to join our team. As a key member of our Hospitality team, you will be responsible for envisioning, designing, and delivering exceptional projects for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Lead a team of Project Architects in planning work and developing solutions to technical and design detail problems.
  • Project Management: Collaborate with Project Managers in defining project work plans and developing and managing the production schedule, including effectively defining and meeting deadlines.
  • Design Development: Lead the creation and modification of complex detailed implementation documents to incorporate the design intent, using diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices and advanced techniques.
  • Code Compliance: Lead the development of code analysis and confirm code and zoning requirements for assigned segments of the project are met.
  • Document Preparation: Supervise the preparation of documents by the architectural team, including verifying implementation documents conform to QA/QC and HKS standards, best practices, and quality expectations.
  • Technical Coordination: Manage the technical resolution and coordination for the project.
  • Reporting and Presentations: Write reports or specifications for assigned projects and prepare client presentations and present design concepts and drawings.
  • Client Communication: Maintain open communication with clients and provide guidance through projects.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with Project Managers, clients, public agencies, consultants, and contractors to incorporate engineering systems, respond to requests for information, clarifications, and modifications, and obtain approvals, negotiations, and adjusting scope of services.
  • Project Meetings: Attend on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings and document as needed.
  • Meeting Minutes: Responsible for preparing and/or reviewing meeting minutes for consultant coordination meetings.
  • Professional Development: Foster and maintain a collaborative professional working relationship with the project team, including promoting communication and creating approachability.
  • Sustainability: Actively promote and incorporate the firm's principles of 'design excellence' through the integration of responsible and sustainable design practice with the art of design.
  • Project Delivery: Collaborate in managing the project to satisfy requirements from budget and schedule perspectives while delivering a quality work product.
  • Business Development: Support and may lead the business development process by identifying new opportunities, marketing current clients for repeat business, and assisting with proposals, budgets, and schedules.
  • Proposal Preparation: May lead the proposal preparation process and participate in negotiation of scope and fees on contracts.
Qualifications
  • Education: Accredited professional degree in Architecture.
  • Registration: Architectural Registration required.
  • Experience: Typically 15+ years of experience.
  • Sustainability Accreditation: Sustainable design accreditation preferred.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and 3D modeling software preferred.
  • Graphic Software: Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software preferred.
  • Office Suite: Proficiency in MS Office Suite preferred.
  • Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines, architectural building systems, accessibility guidelines, and QA/QC process.
  • Communication: Strong presentation skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Leadership: Ability to manage a team with a diplomatic leadership style that puts value on relationships and collaboration, both internal and external.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and professional manner both verbally and in writing.
