The Nurse Extern PRN Joint and Spine Unit role at TriCities Hospital offers a unique opportunity for a RN Student Nurse Extern to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the nursing staff in providing patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN).
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living.
- Work closely with the clinical team to create and implement a care plan by performing direct and indirect patient care.
- Obtain and record initial and ongoing patient information throughout the cycle of care.
- Assist with patient mobility by regularly turning, positioning, and ambulating patients.
- Translate complex medical terminology to ensure patients/families/caregivers understand patient medical condition, treatment plan, medications, and possible side effects.
- Educate patients/families/caregivers on healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes that may be needed upon discharge.
- Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school of nursing.
- Ability to create and implement a personal career development plan, to be reviewed regularly by supervisor and/or preceptor.
- One year of completed nursing school preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
