We are in search of a dedicated Program Security Officer (PSO) to provide comprehensive security support for special and compartmented programs at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL).

As a Program Security Officer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the primary Program Security Officer for various Special Access Programs and Sensitive Compartmented Programs, ensuring adherence to security protocols as outlined in the NISPOM and other relevant government directives.
  • Collaborating with a diverse range of personnel within APL and engaging with external stakeholders.
  • Serving as a representative of APL, facilitating communication between the laboratory, government sponsors, and subcontractors, while working closely with program security leadership.
  • Providing security counsel regarding program operations, ensuring compliance with government and organizational regulations, and developing security policies tailored to specific programs.
  • Overseeing facility security management and documentation to ensure compliance with contractual obligations across multiple programs.
  • Advising management on security-related risks that may affect project outcomes.
  • Offering expertise to Program Managers on the interpretation and application of Security Classification Guides.
  • Identifying and addressing security challenges, including legal and compliance issues, and managing physical security for various facilities.
Qualifications:

You will meet our essential qualifications if you:

  • Hold an Associate's Degree or equivalent in Business, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Have over 4 years of relevant security experience, including roles such as CPSO, CSSO, SSR, or PSR, with a solid understanding of security regulations.
  • Can develop and implement security policies and procedures effectively.
  • Possess strong organizational and communication skills, enabling effective interaction with all organizational levels.
  • Hold an active TS/SCI clearance, with eligibility for access to classified information.

You will exceed our minimum qualifications if you:

  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Possess direct experience as a security officer for compartmented or special programs.
  • Have experience in organizations with reporting obligations to multiple authorities.
  • Bring additional skills in information systems.
