POSITION SUMMARY FOR CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR

As a Construction Inspector, your role will involve overseeing inspections for various projects related to transportation, water-wastewater, and public works. Experience in pipeline inspection is highly regarded. Under the guidance of the Resident Engineer, you will be tasked with monitoring, inspecting, and coordinating construction management and quality assurance inspections as outlined below. Availability for On-Call, Part-Time to Full-Time is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the on-site Construction Inspector across multiple job sites.
  • Oversee and facilitate the construction schedule and progress.
  • Implement quality assurance management procedures for construction.
  • Coordinate the sampling and testing of construction materials.
  • Assist the Resident Engineer with construction staking and surveying coordination.
  • Conduct grade checks and verify construction layout.
  • Calculate and document quantities of construction items.
  • Interpret plans, specifications, and other construction documents.
  • Monitor and document all construction equipment, personnel, and activities.
  • Ensure compliance with contract documents, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Facilitate safety meetings and other team discussions.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with various contractors, departments, clients, and regulatory bodies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in construction management and inspection of Public Works or Industrial facilities.
  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience in transportation, earthwork, and water and wastewater construction is preferred.
  • Pipeline inspection experience is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with industry safety practices and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to thrive in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Strong personal time management and multitasking skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with CPM Scheduling software is a plus.
  • Professional certifications from recognized inspection agencies such as ICC, ACI, AWS, QSP, Caltrans are highly preferred.
