Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and attentive Surgical Assistant to join our team at Kitsap Oral, Maxillofacial and Dental Implant Surgery. As a key member of our staff, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our surgeons during consultations and treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons during consultations and treatment, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
  • Perform basic laboratory duties, including impressions, model pouring, and trimming.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment, adhering to infection control and biohazard protocols.
  • Operate and maintain autoclaves, ensuring proper sterilization and disinfection.
  • Prepare and set up surgical trays, ensuring all necessary instruments are available.
  • Identify and retrieve instruments used in the clinic, ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Set up and break down rooms for IV anesthesia and surgery, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
  • Perform pre-op set-up, including patient positioning and vital sign checks.
  • Review patient charts, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Nitrous oxide set-up and administration, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Properly position restraints and support airways for sedated patients.
  • Circulate and retrieve instruments, ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Provide excellent patient care and communication, addressing patient concerns and needs.
Non-Surgical Responsibilities
  • Restock supplies, forms, and handouts, ensuring a well-stocked and organized environment.
  • Take vital signs, ensuring accurate and up-to-date patient information.
  • Familiarize yourself with all forms and handouts, including procedure-based and consent forms.
  • Comply with OSHA requirements, including personal protective equipment and infection control protocols.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments, filing, and charting.
  • Make follow-up phone calls to patients, ensuring timely and effective communication.
  • May take X-rays, ensuring accurate and high-quality images.
  • Close and open the office each day, ensuring a secure and organized environment.
  • Greet patients and make them feel comfortable, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification, with the ability to obtain once hired.
  • Dental X-ray license, with the ability to obtain once hired.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to provide exceptional patient care, even under stressful circumstances.
  • Consistent professionalism in appearance and attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant program.
  • Certification as a Surgical Assistant.
