Role Summary

The Rehabilitation Specialist will evaluate patients, create and implement tailored treatment plans based on assessment results, which may involve assessing neuromuscular and skeletal functions. This role includes providing direct patient care, documenting progress, and offering guidance to patients and their families. Additionally, the specialist will support senior therapists and leadership in program development and serve as a resource for fellow staff members. Training and mentorship of students and interns will also be part of the responsibilities.

Four 10-hour shifts

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's or advanced degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution.

Licenses/Certifications: Valid license to practice Physical Therapy in Texas or through the Physical Therapy Compact Commission. Current Basic Life Support certification is required.

For direct access practice:

Education: Doctoral degree with completion of a residency or fellowship program, OR

Licensed therapist with 30 hours of continuing education in differential diagnosis.

Licenses/Certifications: Valid license to practice Physical Therapy in Texas or through the Physical Therapy Compact Commission.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Ability to lift and carry weights up to 75/100 pounds and manage up to 30 pounds; prolonged standing, frequent walking, bending, and squatting are required.
  • Fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and effective communication abilities are essential.
  • Visual acuity to monitor equipment and recognize physical characteristics is crucial for this role.


Key Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of patient care by conducting thorough evaluations and accurately interpreting findings. Develop a comprehensive plan of care with clear goals based on evaluations.
  • Implement and oversee physical therapy treatment programs, demonstrating proficiency in advanced therapeutic techniques. Regularly assess patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, including physicians and insurance representatives.
  • Manage time efficiently to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Document patient interactions and treatment plans accurately and promptly.
  • Act as a clinical resource and mentor for staff, students, and community members.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to departmental goals.
  • Promote a culture of safety and adherence to organizational policies and standards.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to compassionate care and personalized patient experiences.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
