La Sierra University is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic America Reads Tutor to provide individualized support to students in need of literacy assistance. As a tutor, you will play a vital role in helping students improve their reading and language arts skills, making a positive impact on their academic journey.

Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one tutoring services in Language Arts and Reading to students in need of support.
  • Assist students with assigned homework in Language Arts and Reading, ensuring they understand and complete tasks to the best of their ability.
  • Lead student learning groups, focusing on building fluency and reading comprehension skills.
  • Develop and implement engaging student reading and peer writing group activities to promote literacy and critical thinking.
Requirements
  • Federal Work-Study eligibility is required for this position.
  • Reliable transportation to school sites is essential.
  • Tutoring times are available Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm, and Tuesday from 1:30 pm to 6:00 pm.
  • Must be a registered student at La Sierra University.
Preferred Skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for helping adolescents.
  • Ability to work independently with students or within a group setting.
  • Creative and enthusiastic approach to lesson planning and delivery.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage paperwork and arrive/depart on time.
  • Comfortable using technology, including Google Meet.

Rate of Pay: $25.00 per hour
