Payroll Specialist

The Payroll Specialist is a key member of the Bethel Church of Redding team, responsible for managing employee compensation and payroll processes. This role involves collecting and entering payroll information, assisting with biweekly payroll runs, and providing support to employees.
Key Responsibilities- Process payroll-related requests in the HRM system, including new hires, bonus requests, and pay rate changes.
- Collect, organize, and verify biweekly timesheet information for employees.
- Assist with biweekly payroll processing, ensuring compliance with multi-state and federal regulations.
- Manage and process payroll garnishments.
- Assist with employment terminations and preparation of final paychecks in accordance with California state requirements.
- Work closely with leaders and employees to address and resolve questions regarding payroll.
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
- 1 to 2 years of experience with a payroll system and payroll processing is preferred.
- Understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices is a plus.
- Proficient math skills with a basic understanding of accounting principles and/or payroll processes.
- Attention to detail with excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and customer service skills and a bias for action.
- Able to work collaboratively and effectively under regular deadlines.
- Able to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
