Custodial Services Associate

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Custodial Services Associate to join our team at Danbury Public Schools. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our school environments.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in custodial services, with experience in cleaning and maintaining educational facilities. You will be expected to work independently, with minimal supervision, to ensure that all areas of the school are clean and well-maintained.

This is a part-time position, working 19 1/2 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 5pm to 9pm, with occasional flexibility to adjust hours as needed. The starting hourly rate is $16.60, with no benefits.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Cleans assigned facilities and grounds, including classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, cafeteria, and multipurpose rooms
  • Performs minor maintenance on custodial equipment and classroom furniture
  • Prepares sites for daily operations, including opening gates, raising flags, and sweeping walkways
  • Replenishes classroom and restroom supplies
  • Responds to immediate safety and operational concerns
  • Maintains seasonal grounds work, including snow removal


**Requirements:**
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read and understand labels and instructions, particularly on cleaning chemicals and products
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, and equipment
  • Team building skills, decision making skills, problem solving skills, effective verbal and listening communications skills, time management skills


**Working Conditions:**
  • Physically demanding position requiring standing, walking, lifting heavy objects, operating medium-weight cleaning equipment, and bending
  • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, occasional lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds
