The role involves selling automotive parts to customers, whether in person, via the shop, or over the phone.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist all customers (both retail and shop) in selecting necessary parts in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner.
- Inform customers about related part requirements and promotions, ensuring they are aware of the complete product range.
- Handle phone inquiries, providing pricing information and additional details.
- Review estimates from body shops to confirm that ordered parts are accurate and pricing aligns with the estimate.
- Deliver exceptional service to both internal and external customers.
- Retrieve and fulfill orders from inventory.
- Alert the parts manager regarding out-of-stock items or urgent shop materials.
- Source out-of-stock parts from external suppliers and place emergency orders when necessary.
- Notify service advisors and customers when special orders arrive.
- Inform the body shop when all parts are received and scheduled for delivery.
- Follow up on back-ordered items.
- Verify will-call and back-order files weekly, returning or restocking items not picked up or needed.
- Restock assigned inventory on a daily basis.
- Assist outside sales representatives with their orders.
- Ensure all internal parts requests are billed correctly on service repair orders.
- Process payments from retail customers or obtain credit authorizations.
- Ensure all charge sales are signed by the customer.
- Provide customers with their invoice copies.
- Issue credits for returned parts, ensuring the original invoice or its number is available for verification.
- Maintain organized records of all repair orders, invoices, insurance estimates, and special-order parts.
- Prepare orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up.
- Keep front and rear counter areas tidy and organized.
- Clean computer terminals and printers daily.
- Participate in all available training programs.
- Stay updated on new products and product updates.
- Collaborate with the parts manager to maintain a lost sales tracking program.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
• No prior experience or training required.
• Less than high school education; or up to one month of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Completion of a one-year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
